NYS Animal Advocacy Day

The 3rd Annual NYS Animal Advocacy Day was held on Tuesday morning, June 4, 2013, in the Well of the Legislative Office Building in Albany. Assemblyman James Tedisco, R-Glenville, and state Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, renewed calls for a statewide registry of animal abusers and a ban on horse slaughter in New York. Once again I was proud to be in attendance “speaking” for all those who cannot speak for themselves. Our dear friend Steve Caporizzo of WTEN Albany was once again the emcee. The work that he does to help save animals in need is round the clock. so wonderful to have these great advocates for animal welfare. The event has grown over the last three years and it will grow in numbers and strength in years to come.
Was an honor to hang out with Hudson and Pearl, two of three puppies that were left for dead last year along train tracks in Albany. One of the three died, but Hudson and Pearl were nursed back to health and adopted. They and their owners were in attendance for Tuesday’s event. Also with Phoenix who survived being burned and now is safe in a loving home.

“We have an obligation as a government to protect all members of our family, including those who have no voice,” Tedisco said. “Animal Advocacy Day matters because it’s about more than just protecting our four-legged friends, it’s about keeping people safe from harm.”

An expansion of Buster’s Law, which would include the creation of a statewide animal abuse registry, is included in Assembly bill 4516 and Senate bill 2305. The horse slaughter legislation is Assembly bill 3905 and Senate bill 4615.

Visit to the Toy Tree

Bring Your Child to the Library Day – C. H. Booth Library – Newtown, CT.

What fun we had and I know I made so many new friends. Lots of hugs for me and kisses for the children. Everyone got a pawtographed photos and a Bocker book mark. We did talk about the importance of reading and how it is fun! Of course I showed off my library voice and my Bocker head tilt. We had raffles for Bocker plush pups and t-shirts and of course my book, Chasing Bocker’s Tale.

Hope to visit again..anytime and I know I have new friends for life!

My Visit to Sandy Hook

Everyone was so nice to me when I visited Sandy Hook, Newtown, CT as part of the day to support all the wonderful people and local businesses of the town. Made so many new friends, especially when I cut my paw and was treating with tender loving care and patched up by my very special friends at The Wishing Well. Of course we bought some great gifts there too. Walked down to the Toy Tree so I could get my very own special T-shirt. We were also there to spread the word about “Bring Your Child to the Library Day” which will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the C. H. Booth Library in Newtown. I am honored to be guest to read my book with the children and also to talk about my career and therapy work. Of course I’ll have pawtographs to give out and be ready with a head tilt or two to pose for some photos with my new friends.
